Softail Reimagined: 2019 Harley-Davidson FXDR 114

October 19th, 2018 by

The 2019 FXDR 114 motorcycle from Harley-Davidson offers an updated power cruiser inspired by the classic Softail design. But this year’s FXDR 114 is a far cry from being just a rehash of the V-Rod model from the 2019 lineup. The new FXDR 114 features a ton of innovations, which will appeal to hard-riding bikers wanting killer good looks and exceptional performance.

Here’s Looking at You

The changes are immediately apparent the first time you catch a glance of the FXDR 114’s re-imaged Softail chassis. The FXDR 114 takes on a drag strip styling with its forward riding position, racing-style fork, stretched fuel tank, Screamin’ Eagle NHRA inspired air intake design, and rumble-inducing 2-into-1 exhaust to ensure the bike sounds as good as it looks. But for those who want to make an even greater impression, there’s the street-legal Screamin’ Eagle Titanium Performance slip-on muffler.

Keen observers will notice a higher ground clearance than other Softail models, providing better performance while cornering and allowing for a minimum 32.6-degree lean angle on the right side and 32.8 on the left. A new LED Daymaker headlight and a keyless ignition system complete the visual updates. The FXDR 114 comes with 7 factory-direct color schemes from stealthy Vivid Black to attention-grabbing Wicked Red Denim. The standard Harley-Davidson Smart Security System helps to keep your bike safe, and the included USB charging port makes sure your phone will never run out of juice.

Much More Than a Pretty Face

The FXDR 114 unquestionably has the performance to match its drag-strip looks. Powered by the 1868-cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 – the largest engine available for the Softail line – this massive motor produces 119 foot-pounds of peak torque. Even with all that power, the ride remains smooth and comfortable due to its easily adjustable mono-shock rear suspension, Michelin’s Scorcher 240-mm rear and 120-mm front tires and extended solo seat.

Stopping this monster is easier than you think, with dual 300-mm front disc brakes and a standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) which is standard on all bikes. In addition to so many new features, the engineers at Harley-Davidson have somehow managed to shave over 10 pounds off of this beast, making it a manageable 637 pounds.
