Remember those summer vacations where you felt like the road trip would never end? “Are we there yet?” We used to relentlessly ask our parents as they were driving along the open road with nothing much to see for scenery. Or how about that all day sports camp where at the end of your day you felt so exhausted from running around, you never thought you would be able to make it through the next day? Those were the dog days of summer that live on with you into adulthood.

Summertime is an especially important time for some special local families who have children who have been diagnosed with muscle disease. This is the time of year where MDA of Nevada provides kids the opportunity to experience adventures and build independence- at no cost to these families. For many families, the week of MDA summer camp gives parents a much needed break from the countless hours that it takes to care for these wonderful kids.

These kids comes from all walks of life and are affected by all different types of muscle disease. Many kids attend camp up until age 17, and for most, this is what they look forward to all year long. It is a chance for them to be independent and to take part in normal activities like fishing, arts and crafts, obstacle courses and even a talent show.

Las Vegas Harley-Davidson is asking for your support of this great cause. Now through September 17th we are raising money for our local families to be able to send kids to MDA Summer Camp. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 locally. It cost $800 to send one child to camp and the MDA helps support individuals with 43 different type of Muscle diseases.

It was amazing to see how many local volunteers give up their time to spend a week with these incredible kids; Now you can help too.
